Samsung Unleashes QLED on Your Backyard

The summer is in full swing, which means it's time to get out and enjoy the sun. But with social distancing guidelines still recommended, and many homeowners unable to leave their properties, it's essential to make the most out of the season. One of the best ways is with outdoor entertainment. This year, Samsung hopes to take the crown as a world leader in outdoor TVs with the newly released, QLED “The Terrace.” What does it mean for your Greenwich, CT backyard? Find out below.

What Is QLED?

UHD, HDR, LED -- when do the acronyms end? Those simple letters indicate sophisticated technology behind the screen, but what do they mean? Samsung touts The Terrace as QLED, but how does that affect your viewing experience?

QLED is a transmissive technology that relies on LED backlighting and colored LCD for a more in-depth experience than standard LED displays. Samsung's proprietary backlight tech uses quantum dot film to increase the range between brightness and contrast.

The result is similar to OLED, though it's an entirely different technology. However, Samsung has remained competitive with its QLED screens, so adding one to your backyard will ensure dynamic performance and stunning detail.

The Terrace

Available at 55-, 65-, and 75-inch screen sizes, there’s a lot of versatility in store with The Terrace. The durable outer casing is water and dust resistant. It features up to 2000 nits of brightness, meaning you can see its display even in direct sunlight.

Plus, Samsung isn't skimping on the quality. Some models are 8K resolution, meaning you can enjoy sharper images in your backyard. The increased detail simplifies following the ball during sports games and allows you to see brand new things in your favorite movies and shows.

It's sleekly designed for an unobtrusive installation. At 59 millimeters deep, The Terrace, like it's sister TV Frame, is a piece of artwork as much it is an AV system.

Additionally, The Terrace comes HDBaseT ready. That means you can stream 4K and 8K content and lossless audio, simultaneously without a drop in quality.
